The King is Dead; Dethroned and Beheaded

Graphite on paper. 2020. 18"x24"
In creating The King is Dead; Dethroned and Beheaded, I took inspiration from sculptures and drawings of Alberto Giacometti. The background figures were heavily based on the thin and almost skeletal figures from Giacometti's sculpture work while the foreground figure is based on his portrait drawings.
Aside from Giacometti's inspiration, another inspiring component in this piece was my current state of emotion at the time with an ex-lover. This piece was a result of seeing the haunting potential from combining elements of Giacometti's art style with my bottled up emotions.
